Grayson ‘delighted’ at Beckford deal and discusses Leeds United’s chances

Preston manager Simon Grayson was delighted to secure the permanent signing of striker Jermaine Beckford, and has spoken about how he is hopeful of a Leeds United return to the Premier League.

In an interview with Radio Yorkshire’s Tom Feaheny, Grayson discussed the Beckford deal, “we had plan A and plan B and fortunately for us Plan A is going to be put into fruition now.

“I’m delighted that Jermaine has settled in so quickly, he’s enjoying his football, he’s enjoying being at the club and we’re delighted to have someone of his pedigree who can hopefully go in a score goals in the Championship for us.”

Grayson also discussed Preston’s chances for next season, he told Radio Yorkshire that “you have to be careful not to make any bold predictions.

“What we have to make sure is that ultimately we are in the Championship next season, that’s going to be the sole aim but we’re going to enjoy it, we’re going to head on and see where it takes us.”

He was also asked for his thoughts on former club Leeds United and the appointment of Uwe Rosler as Head Coach.

“I know Uwe well, he’s a good football man and he’s obviously going into Leeds thinking that he can get it going again.

“Uwe will have his philsophies, he’ll have them hard-working and disciplined and any Leeds supporter just demands they give their everything for the shirt.”

“They have a good man there and hopefully Leeds United someday get back to the Premier League where it deserves to be, but not at the expense of Preston at this moment in time.”
