Six teams chasing Port Vale forward

Tom Pope is a target for six teams according to The Sentinel.

The striker is out of contract at the end of this month and even though the Valiants have offered him a new deal, it looks increasingly unlikely that he will be staying at the club.

The offer currently on the table for Pope from Port Vale requires him to take a 50% cut in his wages and with other teams prepared to make a move and offer him higher wages, it looks as if he could be on his way.

Vale have also given any players who have been offered new deals until Wednesday to decide if they want to stay on at the club or look for pastures new.

Two of the interested teams are believed to be newly-promoted Bury and Doncaster. Bury will be looking to sign some experienced League 1 players to help them stay in the division and Pope has been heavily linked with a move, while Doncaster boss Paul Dickov has confirmed his interest.

With these two teams – and four others – all chasing the striker, it looks as if his time at Vale might soon be up.
