#SUFC Life without Big Bad Barry Corr

Southend United supporters are still reeling from leading scorer and fans favourite, Barry Corr, moving to Cambridge, swapping Division 1 football next season for another season in the basement league.

The perils of letting key players in the final year of their contract came back to haunt us yet again. Ultimately he was offered a better contract by Cambridge and felt that their style of player with two wingers better suited his game than the 4-5-1 formation we played at times.

He was an integral part of the side that won promotion and will be hard to replace in an already goal shy frontline. Yes at times he looked like a red card waiting to happen. But I’d rather see a centre forward giving 100% and ruffling oppositon centre halves than a prima donna not willing to get stuck in.

Our final memory of him will be nodding the ball down for Joe Piggott to equalise in extra time against Wycombe in the play-off final. Thanks for all the goals and memories Barry during your time with us! donedeal
