Leeds United midfielder joins League One side on free transfer

Scunthorpe United have confirmed the signing of Leeds United midfielder Isaac Assenso on a one-year contract following his release from the Championship club.

Assenso, 18, who can also play as a centre-back, impressed during a trial period and has become Scunthorpe’s fourth signing of the summer, following Stephen Dawson joining from Rochdale, and Jack King and Scott Wiseman from Preston North End.

Assenco’s departure may have come as a surprise, having been a mainstay in the Leeds United u18s in a disappointing season, having also been praised for his “dominance in midfield” by former boss Neil Redfearn.
