Is Ogogo’s past anything to worry about?

This week Abu Ogogo arrived at the Greenhous Meadow for a new challenge after spending six years at Dagenham and Redbridge. Ogogo’s arrival has bolster the already strong Shrewsbury midfield and his arrival is welcomed by many Town fans. However, many Town fans have picked up on Ogogo’s criminal record.

Ogogo was involved in a brawl between two other men in a pub in Croydon, reports state that Ogogo left the scene after inflicting harm on both of the men. This event occured in 2008, Ogogo was twenty at the time. Ogogo dodged custody to allow him to take part in Dagenham and Redbridge’s play-off game that weekend but was later in court for his actions. Ogogo was sentenced to eight month imprisonment and suspended for eighteen months, he also had to serve unpaid community service work.

Returning back to the original point, Ogogo’s past is something that really shouldn’t worry Town fans. A spokesmen for Ogogo said “He has remained out of trouble since these offences and has not been in a pub or club since the day of this offence.” Ogogo has served his time and community service work, Ogogo has not been involved in any trouble since this offence in 2008. Town fans should look forward to what the talented midfield will bring to the side next season, hopefully he will be a great assest for the League One campaign. Interestingly, Ogogo is not the only player that has found himself in a spot of bother with the courts. Bobby Grant was involved in another pub brawl alongside Steven Gerrard. Grant has become a fan favourite at Town and fans are hoping that he joins the club permanetly, so there is no reason Ogogo will be treated any differently at the club.
