Gillingham confident of securing deal for defender

Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh says he is hopeful of signing defender Max Ehmer from QPR, according to the BBC.

The 23-year old spent some time on loan with the Gills last season and made a good impression on the club’s officials. He managed to make 29 appearances for the club and he had several good performances for the team.

With just one-year left on his current deal, Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh is confident that he will be able to sign him again for next season, but on a permanent basis.

He has barely featured for QPR at Loftus Road since moving up to the club’s first-team back in 2009 – instead, he has spent most of his out on loan, with spells at Yeovil, Preston, Stevenage, Carlisle and of course Gillingham.

The German would cost very little and is well within the Gills budget – and with the player holding talks over his future at Loftus Road next week, a move could be done very soon if QPR decide he can leave.
