Cook has been attempting to form a squad that can challenge for promotion from League Two and has already added wingers Kal Naismith and Kyle Bennett to his new side. Chief Executive Mark Catlin was keeping his cards close to his chest on any new deals telling the Portsmouth News:

“We won’t talk about players until there is a signature at the bottom of the contract.”

However, despite now being favourites in the race to sign the holding midfielder, fans of the Fratton Park club are not expecting any new deals this week. Cook is on holiday, while Chairman Iain McInnes, Chief Executive Catlin and director Ashley Brown are all attending the Football League conference in Portugal.
