Scunthorpe appear to have pulled out of the race to sign Sam Clucas, according to the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
The Iron have reportedly had a bid for the striker rejected by Chesterfield and while the offer is still there, it looks highly unlikely a deal will be done.
The amount that Scunthorpe have offered is not what the Spireites want for him – they want more. According to Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann, the amount they want is a lot more. In fact, he labelled it as a ‘huge amount of money.’
It means that the Iron are unlikely to be able to seal a deal for Clucas, as the club are unwilling to match the asking price for the forward.
It is not the first time this summer that a bid for the 24-year old has been rejected – Wigan have also had a bid for the player turned down.
The interest is still high in Clucas but as for now, the striker will be staying at the Proact Stadium.
