#RETAINED – Wigan: Who’s passed the Latics acid test?

N.B: Wigan’s retained list was released on 18 May but other commitments have postponed the publishing of this article.

Five players will be on their way out of the DW Stadium this summer as revealed in the club’s retained list.

Six players will also be returning to their parent clubs after a loan spell at the Latics. One of the most notable of the five departures from the club is Ali Al-Habsi.

The goalkeeper has been with the club for four years and was a key player for the team back when Wigan were in the Premier League. However, they have decided to end his association with the club, as they prepare for League 1 football.

Gaëtan Bong will also be leaving the DW Stadium despite only joining the club for the 2014/15 season, as will Kim Bo-Kyung and William Kvist. Ex-Celtic and West Brom man Marc-Antoine Fortuné will also be leaving the Latics.

Emmerson Boyce – who has been with the club since 2006 and was offered a new deal – has also decided it is time to move on from the club. He was the captain as Wigan beat Man City in the FA Cup final, a day that will long be remembered by Wigan fans.

However, despite all his years of service at the DW, he believes it is now time to move on.
