Ex-Man City defender a target for Brighton

Following his release from newly-promoted Norwich, Javier Garrido has emerged as a target for Brighton with the Seagulls looking to add depth to their defence.

The Spaniard had struggled to hold down a first-team place for the Canaries as he made just eight appearances last season, leading to his release.

Garrido started his career in his home-country with Real Sociedad and was highly rated as a youngster; earning caps at numerous Spanish youth levels and being part of the Spain squad which was the UEFA U19 Championship in 2004.

A move to English giants Manchester City came about after the left-back impressed in La Liga and Garrido played for three seasons at the Etihad before a move to Italy to play for Lazio came about.

Garrido moved to Norwich in 2012 and had been with the East Anglian outfit for three years prior to his release. With Brighton having lost Joe Bennett as he returns to parent club Aston Villa, Albion boss Chris Hughton will be making a left-back high priority this summer.
