Marquis: “Harris Was A Massive Influence”

Lewisham born striker John Marquis has recently extended his contract with The Lions and says that manager Neil Harris was a “massive influence” on his decision.

In his faltered Millwall career the 23-year-old has had five loan spells and he feels that they have helped shape him in to the player that he is today. Marquis said “It hasn’t been just the Gillingham experience, it’s all the loans I’ve had. I’ve learnt what I’m good at and obviously the game time has been important as well.”

Marquis scored eight goals in eighteen starts for Gillingham in League One and feels that Harris can push his development even further. He said “I feel he (Harris) can get the best out of me as a player.”

Looking towards the new season Marquis is raring to go and is out to seek promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking. “I feel that I can contribute. I want to show everyone that I have improved an I can help get the goals that can get us back into the Championship.”
