Marquis wants to prove himself to Millwall fans

John Marquis says he wants to prove to Millwall fans that his experiences out on loan have made him a better player, report News at Den.

Marquis, 23, has had loan spells with Portsmouth, Torquay, Northampton and Cheltenham and spent last season on-loan for Gillingham, for whom he scored 8 goals in 18 starts.

“It hasn’t been just the Gillingham experience,” he said. “It’s all the loans I’ve had. I’ve learnt what I’m good at and obviously the game time has been important as well.

“I feel that I can contribute. I want to show everyone that I have improved and I can help get the goals that can get us back into the Championship.”

The Lewisham-born striker says that he is looking forward to working with manager Neil Harris, who he believes will help him develop further as a player.

Marquis last week signed a new one-year deal with the possibility of a further year’s extension. Both he and Millwall will hope he can replicate his League One form from last season.
