Fulham setting their sights on ex-Leeds midfielder

With the rebuilding process underway for next season, Fulham are reportedly keen on a deal to bring Blackburn midfielder Tom Cairney to the club.

The midfielder has been one of the most consistent players for Rovers this season, making the 3rd most appearances for the club during the season.

During these games, Cairney has chipped in with three goals as well as eight assists. The 24 year-old has played over 75 games for the Lancashire club.

Being signed by Leeds at the age of just seven, Cairney spent nine years at Elland Road before being deemed ‘too small’ to progress through to the first team.

Hull City jumped at the chance to sign the youngster, and Cairney went on to make 80 appearances during a four year spell with the Tigers.

Joining Blackburn on loan in the summer of 2013, the deal was made permanent in the January transfer window of 2014. During his first year with the Rovers, Cairney was awarded the honour of being crowned Blackburn’s Player of the Year.

The Nottingham-born midfielder has also been capped by Scotland at both U19 and, most lately, U21 level, making a combined eight appearances for his country.
