Andy scored 38 goals in 151 games for Everton with his most famous coming against Liverpool in the form of a spectacular 25 yard volley, ending the clubs 7 year wait for a win in the Merseyside Derby, in front of a 53,000 capacity crowd. Reid also scored the first ever league goal on a synthetic pitch, playing for QPR in a 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

King also played for clubs including Luton, where he started his career, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. King’s time in the Football League came mainly as a manager where he had successful spells with Mansfield and Swindon, leading both teams to Play-Off places in his time at the clubs. He also took caretaker charge of Northampton Town, earning valuable points in the club’s bid to avoid relegation from the football league’s basement division.

He was a great figure in English football and will be sorely missed by everyone in the game.
