Bishop charged for betting breaches

Ipswich Town midfielder Teddy Bishop has been charged by the Football Association for ‘alleged multiple breaches’ of rules regarding to betting.

The 18-year-old, who broke into the Ipswich first team this season, made 36 appearances for the East Anglia club, scoring 1 goal.

On a statement on their website, the FA said that “Ipswich Town’s Edward Bishop has been charged for alleged multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting.

“The player has until 1 June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

New rules in regard to betting came into force this season. The rules stated that anyone who was involved at a football club at any level were forbidden to bet on football matches. It prevented anyone involved in a club from betting on any game in any league and covered all aspects of football, from match results to the transfers of players or appointments of managers.

It is reported that Bishop’s charge does not relate to match fixing or anything that can be classed as similar. It’s believed that his charge is on the lower end of the scale.
