Preston join the chase for Pringle

Preston North End have reportedly joined the race to sign Ben Pringle, who will leave Rotherham in the summer.

The midfielder has been a key part to the Rotherham side since joining in 2011 and has 168 appearances in a Millers shirt. During his time at the South Yorkshire club, he found the net 22 times alongside his contribution of 34 assists.

Preston will be playing Championship football next season following their impressive 4-0 win over Swindon in Sunday’s League One Play-Off Final. They will look to strengthen their side to allow them to push up the table and Pringle has been identified as a key signing for the next campaign.

Grayson will be facing competition to sign the 25-year-old, with clubs such as Millwall and Grayson’s former club Leeds linked with the attacking midfielder, alongside a host of other Championship clubs.

Pringle sent out a thank you message on Twitter yesterday, saying that ‘I have left on good terms and want to wish the lads and fans all the best for next season and the future.’

Pringle is not the only target for Simon Grayson this summer, with the club trying to tie Jermaine Beckford down to a permanent deal following his successful loan spell, including his hat-trick in Sunday’s promotion winning game.
