Leeds join the race for Dons striker

Leeds United have joined Bolton Wanderers in the race to sign Aberdeen forward Niall McGinn, according to the Press and Journal.

McGinn, 27, can play as a winger or a striker and has reportedly been identified as a wide option to suit Uwe Rosler’s ideal 4-3-3 formation.

Having played 45 games in all competitions this season, including the Scottish Premiership and Europa League qualifiers, McGinn scored on 7 occasions and contributed 17 assists.

In addition to his club career, McGinn has represented Northern Ireland at an international level 31 times, his record at this level is 3 goals and 2 assists.

Leeds boss Uwe Rosler has worked with the Northern Irish forward previously, with McGinn joining Brentford on loan for the 2011/12 season. His record at Brentford saw him score 5 goals and help out with 4 assists.

McGinn joins a number of other players linked with the Whites in recent days. Manchester City forward Pozo has been reported as a target for Rosler, alongside another Manchester City youngster Brandon Barker. In addition to these names, Wigan’s Chris McCann has also been linked with a move to Elland Road and was a player who Rosler worked with at Wigan.
