Northampton wonder-kid to Bolton?

Northampton Town’s Ivan Toney has sparked interest from multiple clubs including Bolton, Wolves and Norwich.

There was speculation that he was going to sign for Wolves in the January transfer window however Northampton’s top scorer this season, Marc Richards, had advised 19 yr old Toney to stay at the Cobblers until the end of the season.

Neil Lennon has released 13 players, including forwards Jermaine Beckford and Craig Davies. Lennon has said he has offered veteran forwards, Heskey and Gudjohnsen, contracts but they both haven’t accepted the deals and will only be able to play a limited amount of games. There were rumours that they were going to sign Adam Le Fondre permanently but the Trotters can’t afford him. This currently leaves the injured Zach Clough as their only real striker.

Toney has netted 11 goals this season in 26 starts. If Bolton do sign Toney, this will leave Northampton boss, Chris Wilder without his hottest striker. However, Ivan Toney is reportedly worth at least £500,000; that amount of money could boost Northampton’s chance of getting into the play-offs if they spent it wisely.
