Port Vale release 3 players

Port Vale Manager Rob Page has announced his retained and released list this morning, with only 3 players not being offered a new contract.

Defender Chris Robertson is the most high-profile player to be shown the exit door having failed to establish himself in Rob Page’s plans.

Page told The Sentinel Newspaper: “Robbo is a great professional and a good trainer. When I first took over I did say to him that if he wanted an opportunity to go out and play games and move on then he could.

“He wasn’t in my plans moving forward. […] As the season panned out he ended up going back into the team. But long term he doesn’t quite fit that bill of how I want to play next season.”

Vale also have released ex young Manchester City forward Alex Nimely who has only featured once this season after a dispute with the club. Kaid Mohamed who has spent the last two season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town has also not been offered a new deal.

This means that out of contract players Adam Yates, Ben Williamson, Freddie Veseli, Nathan Smith, Tom Pope, Michael O’Connor, Mark Marshall, Ryan Lloyd, Sam Johnson, Louis Dodds, Michael Brown, Ryan Boot and Chris Birchall have all been offered new deals.

Page added “We are not going to have a budget at Port Vale Football Club where we can go and bring in 10 players that we don’t know about and on better wages. […] We are keeping the players as we know them inside out.”

Enoch Andoh, Achille Campion, Colin Daniel, Aziz Deen-Conteh, Carl Dickinson, Richard Duffy, Chris Lines, Ryan McGivern, Byron Moore and Chris Neal are all still under contract.

Port Vale are expected to strengthen though in the Summer with Rob Page hoping to bring in 4 or 5 new players to help improve the squads 18th place finish.
