Bakary Sako is demanding too much

Wolves star winger Bakary Sako has been told to lower his wage to join Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion this summer, according to Sky Sports News.

Wolves chose not to sell their key man this time last season, and made the same decision in January this year, to West Brom themselves. Wolves boss Kenny Jackett was insistent on keeping the wide man to help boost their squad to promotion out of the Championship via a play-off push, which they narrowly missed out on.

The Malian international signed for Wolves in 2012 for a total fee of £2.5million and has since scored 38 goals in 124 appearances.

However, now Sako is out of contract at Wolves, West Brom and other linked clubs such as rivals Aston Villa have the chance to sign him on a free-transfer.

Wolves have said that they cannot match Premier League wages, and West Brom have told Sako to lower his demands if he wants to join the club.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: “Every fan knows the pull of the Premier League, we’re talking about monies now which are so out of the stratosphere that no Championship club can compete with any Premier League club when it comes to a like-for-like financial basis. Sako has been a fantastic servant and we’ll be talking to him shortly. We’ll see what he wants to do. We want to keep him but as a free agent when the Premier League comes calling you have to be realistic.”

Wolves finished 7th in the Championship, just 4 goals away from making the final play-off spot.
