Leeds United – Bolton plan swoop for Whites player

It is emerging in the press that Bolton Wanderers are planning a swoop for Leeds United midfielder Rodolph Austin when the business gets around to transfers and clubs making decisions on which player’s service they wish to retain. It is  commonly-held knowledge that Leeds are unlikely to need Austin with the Jamaican international midfielder likely to be deemed ‘surplus to requirement’ and thus available for transfer. Indeed, during the January transfer window, Austin held talks with Wigan over a move to the DW Stadium but that deal fell through and Austin returned to Elland Road; Cardiff were also reputed to be interested in the no-nonsense, combative defensive midfielder with lung-bursting energy and a powerful, if at times wayward, shot.

Should Bolton manage to sign the 29-year old Reggae Boys star, this is what they are looking at:

  • 77 tackles from 94 attempts – 82% success rate (3.1 tackles per typical 90 minutes)
  • 47 interceptions (1.9 interceptions per typical 90 minutes)
  • 42 blocks of opponent ball (1.7 blocks per typical 90 minutes)
  • 65 shots at goal (2.6 shots per typical 90 minutes)
  • 37.50% shot accuracy (excluding blocked shots)
  • 3 goals (16.67% conversion from on-target shots)
  • 1,139 passing attempts/905 accurate passes (79.45% accuracy)
  • 45 passing attempts per typical 90 minutes

Should Leeds decide that Rodolph Austin’s eventual fate lies elsewhere, he can leave knowing that he gave his all for the club and that is something that Leeds United fans appreciate. Whilst some can possibly doubt his technical ability, his heart cannot be so doubted.
