Southend keeper on Cellino’s radar?

Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley could be on Leeds United’s transfer radar, after Leeds owner Massimo Cellino was spotted at the Morecambe v Southend game earlier today.

Bentley, 21, was linked with Leeds United previously when Brian McDermott was in charge, and McDermott held discussions with Cellino on the young goalkeeper, but Leeds opted to sign Marco Silvestri instead.

As reported by The 72’s Graham Smeaton earlier today, Cellino opted to pay a visit to the League Two fixture as opposed to watching Leeds in their final game against Rotherham. Reports suggest that he was watching Bentley, who could be seen as a possible option alongside Silvestri, who until recently, has spent the season with his position unchallenged in the United goal.

The 6ft 4″ goalkeeper will not come cheap however, with it reported that Forest and QPR were looking at him recently. Bentley has also been featured on the Sky Sports Scout website, which highlights young and upcoming talent in the world of football.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Leeds United need a revamp and need the additional quality to the current squad, whether Cellino will go for Bentley remains to be seen.
