Oldham Athletic sign Ronaldo

Oldham Athletic have started their summer strengthening early, by signing Ronaldo.

Unfortunately it is not the Brazilian World Cup winner or the Portuguese Real Madrid forward, but Manchester born Ronaldo Brown. The 16-year-old winger has joined the Latics youth team.

Brown’s first name is indeed taken from the former Brazilian striker, and his twin brother is called Rivaldo. These names were given to the pair as their mother, Denise Brown, admits she is a big fan of the Brazil national side.

Ronaldo was released by Liverpool in his earlier career, and has had trials with Burnley, Bolton, and Blackpool before opting to sign up with Oldham.

Whether this Ronaldo will live up to the others he shares his name with remains to be seen, but Oldham fans can look forward to seeing if he breaks into the first team next season.
