After an enthralling final day in the Championship and League Two which saw Bournemouth and Burton crowned as Champions of their respective leagues, there is still a lot to be decided in League One. We take a look at what is left to be decided.
Automatic Promotion
Bristol City were the first team to win Promotion after they thumped Bradford 6-0 away from home on the 14th April and won the title with a 0-0 draw against Coventry. The second automatic spot is between Preston and MK Dons. Preston sit 1 point above their rivals and will go up if they defeat Colchester or they match MK’s result. MK Dons must beat Relegated Yeovil and hope Preston slip up, although a defeat for Preston would mean MK Dons would only need a draw because of their superior goal difference. Both teams are however guaranteed at least a Play Off spot.
2. Preston | 45 | 25 | 14 | 6 | 79 | 39 | +40 | 89 |
3. MK Dons | 45 | 26 | 10 | 9 | 96 | 43 | +53 | 88 |
Play Offs
The play offs are already decided in League 1 with 1 of either Preston or MK Dons joining Swindon, Sheffield United and Chesterfield. However, Chesterfield and Sheffield United play each other and the result will decide who will play who in the Play Offs.
2. Preston | 45 | 25 | 14 | 6 | 79 | 39 | +40 | 89 |
3. MK Dons | 45 | 26 | 10 | 9 | 96 | 43 | +53 | 88 |
4. Swindon | 45 | 23 | 9 | 13 | 74 | 55 | +19 | 78 |
5. Sheffield Utd | 45 | 19 | 13 | 13 | 65 | 52 | +13 | 70 |
6. Chesterfield | 45 | 19 | 11 | 15 | 67 | 54 | +13 | 68 |
7. Rochdale | 45 | 19 | 6 | 20 | 72 | 61 | +11 | 63 |
Relegation
Yeovil were the first team to drop out of League 1 after a draw against Notts County on the 11th April, condemning them to consecutive relegation. 3 other teams out of 6 will join Yeovil in League 2. Coventry need just a point away at relegation rivals Crawley to stay up, however a loss to Crawley and victories for Notts County and Crewe would send the Sky Blues to the 4th tier of English Football. Crewe play at home to Bradford and know a win will be enough, a draw may not be enough if Notts County and Crawley win thanks to their better goal difference. Notts County who sit level on the points with the drop also know a win would do it away to Gillingham, failing to win could see Crawley or Leyton Orient leapfrog them should they better the Magpies result. Crawley sitting in the 4th relegation spot will take heart in the fact that they play a relegation rival on the final day in Coventry, a win for the Red Devils would guarantee safety putting Coventry, Crewe and Notts County in a very dangerous position. Leyton Orient and Colchester’s fate is not in their own hands. Leyton Orient must win away to Swindon and hope Crawley or Notts County dont get maximum points. Colchester must also win although they do play Preston (who need a win themselves to gain Automatic Promotion) and hope results above them go their way.
18. Coventry | 45 | 12 | 16 | 17 | 47 | 59 | -12 | 52 |
19. Crewe | 45 | 14 | 10 | 21 | 43 | 74 | -31 | 52 |
20. Notts County | 45 | 12 | 14 | 19 | 44 | 60 | -16 | 50 |
21. Crawley | 45 | 13 | 11 | 21 | 52 | 77 | -25 | 50 |
22. Colchester | 45 | 13 | 10 | 22 | 57 | 77 | -20 | 49 |
23. Leyton Orient | 45 | 12 | 12 | 21 | 57 | 67 | -10 | 48 |
24. Yeovil | 45 | 10 | 10 | 25 | 35 | 70 | -35 | 40 |
