Latics looking at Bradford’s star striker

Newly appointed Gary Caldwell is keen to pursue a deal for Bradford striker Billy Clarke ahead of a summer of rebuilding for Wigan as they look towards life in League 1.

Currently the Bantams top scorer with 13 goals this term, and his proven ability at League 1 level is an attractive quality for a Wigan side who look destined for relegation.

Caldwell will be making strikers a high priority this summer, as Wigan look set to finish the season as the 2nd lowest scoring team in the league, with 39 goals in 45 games so far.

Irish striker Clarke would bring much needed experience to the Latics, as the forward has won three promotions in his career; winning the Championship play-offs with Blackpool in 2009-10, winning League 2 with Brentford in 2008-09, and finishing second in League 1 with Colchester in 2006-07.

Contributing four assists over the season as well as his goal tally, Clarke has been a main stay Phil Parkinson’s team, and the club have only just missed out on the play-offs; sitting six points behind 6th placed Chesterfield.
