Watford’s McGugan a wanted man by The Owls

After a successful loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday, the club are hopeful of signing loanee Lewis McGugan on a permanent basis come the summer.

After joining the Sheffield side on-loan back in November, he then had his stay at Hillsborough extended in February until the end of the season.

Becoming a mainstay in Stuart Gray’s side, McGugan has contributed both goals and assists to The Owls, with three-a-piece.

McGugan joined Watford at the start of the 2013-14 season, and although he enjoyed a successful term (netting 11 times in 37 games), the English midfielder was seen as surplus to requirements at the start of the 2014-15 season, making only six appearances for the Hornets.

With Wednesday hoping to build a promotion challenging team for next season after currently sitting 16 below the play-off places, McGugan could be the man to run the midfield for them.
