Manchester United join race for Leeds United protege

Manchester United are reportedly the latest Premier League club to be interest in Leeds United’s teenage midfielder Lewis Cook.

The Daily Star claim that Louis van Gaal will face competition to land the youngster from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, who are all thought to be weighing up a summer move for the 18-year-old.

Cook made his Leeds debut last August and has since established himself as a regular in Neil Redfearn’s side, featuring 37 this campaign and attracting the attention of a number of clubs along the way.

With the hope of fending off potential interest, Leeds have slapped an ambitious £12million price-tag on Cook’s head. In addition, the midfielder signed a new £4,000-a-week contract in January, though he can expect to see those figures soar should a Premier League side come calling in the summer.

Cook was part of the England under-17 squad that won the European Under-17 Championship in 2014, and he has since gone on to represent his country at under-18 and under-19 level.
