Eddie Howe takes Manager of the Month accolade

Bournemouth are enjoying an incredible season at the business end of the Championship, and manager Eddie Howe is in no small part responsible for this.

Already winning this award twice, in October and December, the month of March has been yet another successful one for Howe’s table toppers.

Winning four of five games played and drawing one, scoring 15 in the process, it is no wonder why Howe has yet again been recognized for the impressive results he is managing to achieve.

His philosophy of fast attacking football has rewarded The Cherries with a +44 goal difference, scoring a league-high 87 goals in 41 games so far.

Having played over 250 games for Bournemouth in two stints between 1994-2002, and 2004-2007, Howe has always been a fan favourite at Dean Court.

Howe has also enjoyed two stints as a manager with club, first taking over back in 2008. At the point of his appointment, at just 31 years of age, he was the youngest manager in the Football League.

At the time in League 2, Bournemouth had just survived a relegation scrap and narrowly avoided falling out of the Football League. However, this was no concern to Howe as in his first full season in charge he led his side to promotion via the play-offs.

After a short stint at Burnley in 2011-12, guiding them to a safe mid-table finish, Howe returned back to his beloved Bournemouth to help them gain promotion from League 1.

It took Howe just one season to find his feet again with Bournemouth, achieving automatic promotion to England’s second highest level for only the second time in the clubs history.

Finishing as the top goal-scorers in the league that season, it’s clear to see that Howe’s football philosophy is one that is working wonders at the Dorset-based side.

The 2013-14 is coming to its end with Bournemouth currently sitting on the top spot. Having only dropped out of the automatic promotion places four times since the start of November, consistency has been the key to success for The Cherries as they have their sights set on the Premier League.
