Grigg to leave the Dons

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson is doubtful that the club will be able to sign striker Will Grigg on a permanent basis when his loan finishes at the end of the season.

Grigg, 23, is on loan from Championship high-flyers Brentford and has scored an impressive 19 goals this season, including a brace in the 2-0 win over Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

Robinson said:

“We’ll certainly ask the question but Brentford paid a lot of money for him and it was a big investment that they paid for him.

“I’m not too sure that we can compete with the investment Brentford made”.

Brentford signed the forward from League One Walsall when they were in the same league as the West Midlands side. The Bees were ordered to pay £325,000 in compensation as Grigg was under 24 at the time of his transfer. The fee had gone up to £405,000 at the start of the season due to a number of clauses surrounding the deal.
