Fulham wonder-kid offered new deal to fend off Premier League ‘Big Six’

Patrick Roberts has been offered a new deal by manager Kit Symons in an attempt to persuade the immensely talented attacking midfielder to stay with The Cottagers.

Much has been written about England’s rising star Patrick Roberts, with fellow writer here at The72 Nathan Fletcher covering the interest in Roberts here.

New revelations have come about however, with Fulham boss Kit Symons, unsurprisingly, doing everything he can do keep the youngster at Craven Cottage.

Symons reveals how a new contract has been offered to Roberts, citing what a ‘fantastic prospect’ the player is.

On why first team opportunities have been so few this season (making just three starts for The Cottagers), Symons remarked that: “It is a little bit early for him to play Championship football regularly at the moment.”

Despite his lack of experience at club level, away on International duty the 18 year-old has won the UEFA European U-17 Championship, and was also included in the Team of the Tournament for the competition.

In an interview which can be read here, Symons doesn’t seem overly worried about the prospect of Roberts plying his trade elsewhere next season. Despite not wanting to sell their starlet, a £15 million price tag has been set for the youngster, although this is unlikely to sway any of the Premier League sides interested away from a transfer.

With known interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, both Manchester sides, Tottenham and Liverpool, a lucrative contract will have to be offered if Roberts is to be at Fulham next season.
