Mansfield v Shrewsbury preview: Murray admits Stags are not in the ‘same ball park’

Mansfield boss Adam Murray has admitted that Easter Monday opponents Shrewsbury Town are “not in our ball park” as his side prepare to face the League Two title chasers.

The Stags 2-0 loss to Southend last Friday was their 4th defeat in 5 games, as the gap between them and the relegation zone closed to 6 points.

Town will be looking to make it 5 wins from 5 as they aim to overtake league leaders Burton, who face a trip to 3rd placed Wycombe. Skipper Liam Lawrence will be looking to retain his place in the starting line up after shrugging off an illness which kept him out of training last week. Andy Mangan and Tyrone Barnett made substitute appearances in Friday’s 2-0 win against Dagenham and are available again should boss Micky Mellon choose to change his attacking options. James Wesolowski and Nathaniel Knight-Percival are both still on the long-term injury list.

Mansfield will be without winger Junior Brown as he serves the 3rd match in his 4 match suspension. Rakish Bingham, Jamie McGuire, Billy Kee, Ryan Tafazolli, and Michael Raynes will be hoping for recalls after they were dropped for the trip to Roots Hall.
