Kenwyne Jones reveals his shock at sudden loan move

Bournemouth’s loanee has had his first interview since his surprise move away from parent club Cardiff, and has admitted his confusion surrounding the move.

In an interview which can be read in full here, the Trinidad and Tobago international said: “It caught me by surprise. I didn’t think there were many things in football that would have surprised me anymore but this actually did. It took place in half an hour so i’m still trying to understand how that came about.”

Having enjoyed a successful season thus far with the Bluebirds, posting impressive numbers with 13 goals in 27 games in all competitions and being their top scorer, it is no wonder the loan has come as a shock to the striker.

Jones, a vastly experienced forward with nearly 200 Premier League appearances to his name, also alluded to the fact that the club closed the deal without the player himself having any prior knowledge.

At the age of 30, one last foray into the Premier League for Jones would be the perfect send off,  as he admits that retirement is ‘right around the corner’, this could be his last chance.

Hoping to supply extra firepower for Bournemouth as they look to secure an automatic promotion place, Jones was keen to point out that his allegiances lie, for the time being, with The Cherries.
