Six Man Rumble: The Championship Strikers

After having a brief look at predicting who might end up as the leading scorer in this season’s Championship division, I thought I’d turn my statistical spyglass in a different direction. Instead of looking at a straight shootout between the top three, five, seven or however many strikers – what I thought I’d do is take the top three scoring strikers (Daryl Murphy, Troy Deeney and Cameron Jerome) and compare them to the three strikers occupying places eight, nine and ten in the Championship scoring ladder (Britt Assombalonga, Andre Gray and Patrick Bamford).

My thinking behind this particular set up of players was that I could then discount purely ‘goal scoring’ as the ranking for the ‘top striker’ and look at other elements and statistics from their 2014/15 returns such as goal conversion percentage etc. Don’t panic, I’ll not make it ‘too’ Mathsy.
