West Brom poised to secure Wolves star winger on a free

Tony Pulis has made Mali international Bakary Sako a top priority this summer, and Sako seems keen on a move to a new club after refusing to sign a new contract at Molineux.

According to the Daily Mail, West Brom are eager to sign the winger who is currently Wolves top scorer with 12 goals this season. Also contributing a respectable five assists, it’s no wonder there is Premier League interest in the player.

Sako, who was born in France but opted to the play internationally for Mali, made his name at Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne. Arriving at Wolves for a £2.2 million sum in the summer of 2012, the prolific wide-man has had three consecutive seasons contributing 10 or more goals to his side.

Manager Kenny Jackett is aware that how they finish the season will have a large impact on the players they are able to retain, stating: “I think Wolves will be an option [for Sako]… but the way our season goes will have a big bearing on that.”

With Wolves currently sitting just two points below the play-offs, promotion is key to holding on to their African star. Having only lost one game in their last eight, the Wanderers are getting the results they need.
