Newcastle would have to pay for McClaren

The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle United would have to pay £2 million in compensation to Derby County if the Toon were to try and steal Steve McClaren from the Rams.

Ever since Alan Pardew moved from the North East to London, Steve McClaren has always been a popular name spoken in the saga to replace Pardew. But McClaren signed a new deal at the iPro at the start of the season meaning that the Magpies would have to pay £2 million in compensation to the Championship club.

John Carver is thought to only be a temporary replacement at Newcastle whilst McClaren is one of the favourites to replace him in the summer.

Derby haven’t won a game since late February but still sit 5th in the Championship, only 5 points behind the top 2. The East Midlands club have only picked up 2 points from a possible 18 in their last six games.
