Yesterday, we brought you the news that Notts County have parted company with Shaun Derry after just shy of 17 months in the Meadow Lane hotseat. Derry masterminded a County great escape at the tail end of last season which saw Notts survive the League 1 drop on the final day of the season, despite being marooned to the bottom of the table for much of the season. After an encouraging start to this season’s campaign which saw the Magpies hovering in and around the play-off places until the turn of the year, Notts have recorded just 3 league wins in 2015 from 15 matches. A 4-1 defeat last Saturday against promotion chasing MK Dons proved to be the final straw for the Notts County board who after 1 win in 8 have took the decision to part with Derry and his number 2, Greg Abbott with just 9 games left in the season.

We take a look at 5 possible candidates in the frame for the job at Notts County who will need to hit the ground running to steer County away from the relegation places in League 1.
