League 1 Midweek Preview – 24th March

Sheffield United vs Scunthorpe – 5th vs 17th

United picked up their first win in 6 games with a 1-0 home win over Port Vale. With the Blades dropping points, the play off pack were closing in on them but a win tomorrow could give them a 6 point margin over 7th placed Barnsley. United could cement 5th place with their next 2 games at home but face 2 massive Yorkshire derbies which could really determine their spot in the top 6. United look unlikely to catch 4th placed MK Dons but could give them a scare if their form improves.

  • Won 1 of last 4 at home with 2 defeats and a draw – 4 out of last 12 available
  • Picked up 29 of their 58 points at home – W8, D5, L5

Scunthorpe have been pulled right into the relegation shake up as they sit just 1 point above the relegation zone. With poor recent form the Iron face the real danger of relegation to League 2. The Iron lost 3-1 away at Rochdale on Saturday and are 7 without a win in the league bt form will need to improve with teams fighting for their lives at the bottom. Scunthorpe face a 6 pointer on Saturday as they face 20th placed and manager-less Notts County which could affect them on their trip to Bramall Lane.

  • 1 away win in 7 games – 4-1 victory at Leyton Orient in January
