League 1 Midweek Preview – 24th March

Oldham vs Rochdale – 13th vs 8th

Oldham picked up their first win in 4 games with a 1-0 win away at Crewe which was the perfect present for Caretaker boss Dean Holden who was appointed till the end of the season last week. The Latics had dropped into danger at the bottom of the division but the win at Gresty Road put them 7 points above the relegation zone and one more win should seal their League 1 future for another year. Oldham face two tough games after Dale visit with a trip to Bradford and home game against league leaders Bristol City.

  • Oldham have 2 wins in 8 games but lost the other 6 games
  • Picked up 25/49 of their points at home – W7, D4, L7
  • Lost their last 4 at home – did include 3 against top 7 but only scored 2 and conceded 11
  • Picked up 6 out of last 18 available – W2 and Lost 4
  • Won 5 of their 7 home games by a 1 goal margin
  • 11 of their 13 wins have come when scored first goal
  • Jonathan Forte top scorer with 14 but no goal in last 10 and only 1 goal in last 15 games
  • Oldham won 3-0 at Spotland but both sides won 2 of last 4 meetings

Rochdale will be looking for their 5th win in 6 games as they travel to Boundary Park. Dale enhanced their play off ambitions with a 3-1 home win over Scunthorpe on Saturday and sit only 3 points behind 6th placed Peterborough. Dale’s trip to Oldham is one of two games in hand they have with 2 wins they would move themselves into the play off places. Dale have a good chance to make the jump in to top 6 with 3 of their next 4 games against sides in the bottom half. Key to the run in for Dale is they do face 4 of the top 7 in last 8 games and a trip to Barnsley on the last day of the season could be pivotal.

  • Only won 1 of last 6 games away, losing 4 of them
  • Picked up only 4 points from last 18 available on the road
  • Collected 26 out of 53 points away from home – W8, D2, L8 – scoring 35
