Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has admitted he is ‘hopeful’ to sign Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom.
However, he also admits that there is plenty of competition trying to capture the young Arsenal starlet.
On Saturday, Chuba Akpom was at Carrow Road looking onto the game as Norwich were victorious over Forest and won the game 3-1. It turns out he wasn’t there for Forest, he was in talks with Norwich.
Freedman said “We are always hopeful. The player we are talking about was actually at the ground – but to talk to Norwich,”
“That is the level of competition we are at. We are in there competing with everyone, but so are many other teams.”
Freedman went on to speak about how hard it will be to get the signature of the youngster, but said that he has not ended his interest in him, despite being under a transfer embargo.
“It is going to be very, very hard. Norwich and other sides who are not under an embargo can come in and offer more money.”
The Forest boss says he believes “he (Akpom) will make his decision on Monday or Tuesday.”
