Watford vs Ipswich – Watford to win 21/20

This may not be clear cut on first impressions, but there doesn’t seem to be much stopping Watford at the moment. With only three losses in 2015 the Hornets have hit form at just the right time, and they now sit top of the Championship as Ipswich come to Vicarage Road.

The Tractor Boys have seen their own playoff ambitions hit a brick wall in recent matches, with only 4 points taken from their last possible 15 seeing them drop out of the top six. Those five matches included away defeats to Middlesbrough, Leeds and Norwich, which does not bode well for their trip to Hertfordshire. In fact, Mick McCarthy’s men have the worst record in the top nine when they venture away from Portman Road.

In Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney Watford have two of the three top goalscorers in the Championship this season, and with Deeney netting eight in as many games he is definitely hitting form at the business end of the season.
Even if they have an off day, Matej Vydra isn’t a bad striker to have in the side as well.

Ipswich know all about strikers, with the top marksman in the league leading their line in Daryl Murphy. Murphy has only managed two in his last seven games, but can always bag a goal out of nothing. Promising youngster Teddy Bishop will be a miss in the centre of the park as the 18 year old is suffering from shin splints.

It will be a battle of two strong attacking threats, but the plethora of options available to the hosts will prove too strong for the Suffolk based side. Watford are in such great form at the moment that a home win is the only option in this one.
