Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is delighted of the timing of the upcoming international break will come at the right time for his Blackburn squad.
Optimistic Rovers fans still believe a late play-off push is alive, but for those who aren’t as hopeful, their dreams were virtually ended on Tuesday night when they lost 3-2 to sixth place Brentford, meaning they are 11 points off the final play-off spot.
Those who believe it is now too late were hopeful that they could string back-to-back results to reach that wanted position, where those with positive thoughts still believe they can.
“We’ll try and finish this period off as well as we can and then get a break because quite a few of them need it,” said Bowyer.
“There’s a lot still playing out there with bumps and bruises but they were fighting fit and throwing their names forward to play.
“We’d won our last three leading in to last night. We’ve just got to make sure we recover, have a head-count on Thursday, Friday and go again on Saturday. If we can finish with a return of four (wins) out of five, we’ve done very well.”
Blackburn are now 10th in the league, with 54 points.
