Interest In Portsmouth Star

Portsmouth Chief Executive Mark Catlin has revealed that there is interest from other clubs in star player Jed Wallace.

Wallace, who has scored 14 goals so far this term, signed a new three-year deal in the summer. His impressive form since his debut in 2013 has meant that Pompey have been consistently attempting to keep the 20-year-old on the South Coast.

League One side Peterborough had a bid turned down by both Portsmouth and Wallace in January 2014 but several clubs are keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Wallace has been integral to the Blues’ recent form and picked up League Two Player Of The Month for February. Catlin told the Portsmouth News:

“From the second we took the club over there has been interest in him which we have successfully fended off and, hopefully, we can continue to do so. We get a lot of scouts, he is the right age, he has played a lot of games for someone of his age and is obviously a very good player. Financially, we don’t have to sell. Whether any player goes is a decision for the manager and the board.”

Portsmouth face Luton Town at Fratton Park on Saturday, ten points from the play-offs.
