Bluebirds swoop for Palace’s O’Keefe

Cardiff City have signed Crystal Palace midfielder Stuart O’Keefe on a contract lasting until the summer of 2017

The former Southend United player has penned a 2 and a half year contract at the Cardiff City Stadium, following a 4 and a half year spell at Selhurst Park which saw the 23 year old rack up 51 appearances and 1 goal.

O’Keefe follows Scott Malone, Alex Revell and Lee Peltier into Cardiff and is the fourth signing of Russell Slade’s reign as Cardiff boss and is part of a rebuilding job under Slade to reduce the club’s wage bill. The deal comes after another Bluebirds midfielder, Kim Bo-Kyung, had has contract mutually terminated with the club

The midfielder has found first team opportunities in south London limited this campaign having played just three times for the Eagles, the last of which was against Dover in the FA Cup, and on a further four occasions for Blackpool in a loan spell.

He is expected to make his debut for Cardiff in the first game since his arrival against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
