Pardew: No progress on Gestede

Alan Pardew has today revealed in his press conference that he is no closer to signing prolific Blackburn Rovers forward Rudy Gestede.

Speaking on whether any progress had been made, Pardew commented:

“No, not that I’m aware of. I think we have enquired for about three to five players whether their available and that’s where we’re at and the chairman is pursuing some lines of enquiry in the right manner.”

Gestede’s career struggled at Cardiff City, where starting births were rare, but he has become a hit at Ewood Park, scoring 12 goals in just 23 appearances, and was the Championships top scorer in 2014.

According to the Daily Star, Palace have made a bid in the region of £3.5million, but it is believed that Blackburn are holding out for a fee closer to £5million.

Blackburn could also face the departure of Jordan Rhodes, who is rumoured to be holding talks with Swansea City after their FA Cup clash on Saturday.
