Wolverhampton Wanderers have today confirmed the signing of former Arsenal striker, Benik Afobe for an undisclosed fee.

Wolves announced the signing today on Twitter after days of rumours linking Afobe to the West Midlands club. They tweeted:

Afobe has recently been on loan at League One side MK Dons where he had a huge impact to the Dons squad. In 30 appearances he scored 19 goals and assisted 7 (Source: TransferMarkt). With over half of his 35 career league goals coming from MK Dons in such a short space of time, it is no wonder that Wolves wanted to snap up the 21 year old.

Wolves have only managed 29 goals in the league this season – second bottom out of the teams in the top half of the table behind Sheffield Wednesday. However, despite goalscoring troubles, Wolves currently sit 8th – only one point of the play off places.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett told the Club’s website:

“We were keen to make him feel wanted and make him the best he can possibly be and try to bring out his full potential, which is considerable, both in terms of his play, his power and his goalscoring.”

“He gets chances and converts a good percentage of them.”

Wolves’ first chance to showcase Afobe’s talent will be at home to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon where they will be looking to extend their winning run to four games and their unbeaten run to six.
