Rams loan Premier League striker

Derby County have signed Aston Villa striker Darren Bent on loan until the end of the season.

Having spent the last month on loan at Championship strugglers Brighton, where he scored twice in 5 appearances, Bent has now found a second-tier home for the duration of the season.

“I wanted to come here and be part of something that could be special” said the 30 year-old, who has previously played under Derby Head Coach Steve Mclaren during his tenure as England manager.

There are some very good players here and the team are playing good football, so hopefully I can be a part of that.” Bent added.

The signing creates speculation as to how Derby will utilise Bent, whether it be in a role as a substitute backing up prolific scorer Chris Martin or as a second striker in a changed system.
