GAME OF THE WEEKEND: Gosport Borough 3-6 Colchester United
There were a few great games with plenty of goals but none more so than Colchester’s visit to Conference South side Gosport Borough. Gosport came into the game 11 matches unbeaten and would have been hopeful of causing some problems, which they did, but a strong U’s team brushed them aside in the end.
Top performances from big players like Freddie Sears, Sanchez Watt and Gavin Massey really helped Colchester pull off a thoroughly professional performance against a tricky side. Hats off also to Justin Bennett, Gosport’s leading goal-score, getting a brace in their first-ever first round tie, well done to you.
