Player ratings: Rotherham United 3-3 Fulham

The Millers and Fulham played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the New York Stadium. Rotherham took the lead three times only to be pegged back by the Cottagers instantly on all three occasions. Both sides worked very hard and pressed each other and ultimately a point was a fair result between two improved teams.

Rotherham took the lead on the 28th minute when Paul Taylor’s shot on the edge of the box was diverted past the ‘keeper by Alex Revell for his second goal in as many games. Despite protests from the visitors of offside, the goal stood. Fulham hit back almost instantly and won a penalty in the 33rd minute. George Williams went down in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Ross McCormack stepped up and sent Colin the wrong way to equalise. The Millers regained the lead in the second half after Ben Pringle’s cross found Jonson Clarke-Harris who acrobatically turned the ball past Marucs Bettinelli. Fulham hit back again though. Cauley Woodrow’s superb curling effort from just inside the area found it’s way past Adam Colin to level it up again. Rotherham thought they’d won the game in the 86th minute after Ben Pringle’s shot took a deflection Bodurov to put them back in the lead but back came the Cottagers again. Dan Burn’s header bounced up and over Colin to rescue a dramatic and deserved point for Fulham.

The result leaves Rotherham in 14th place, 5 points clear of the relegation zone. Fulham meanwhile are in the bottom three on goal difference. Kit Symons spoke after the game about how much he wanted the Fulham job and judging by this performance and other recent ones, they are definitely playing for him.

Rotherham United

Adam Colin: Strange to give a ‘keeper such a high rating after conceding three, but Colin was in good form making some vital saves to prevent further damage. 7.0
Frazer Richardson: Another solid game. Becoming reliable and consistant. 6.8
Craig MorganWon everything in the air and was a strong and assuring presence at the back. Proper captains performance. 7.0
Kari Arnason: Not his best game. Lost Dan Burn for the third equaliser and gave the ball away cheaply. 6.5
Joe Skarz: Like Arnason he was down a notch from recent performances. Sliced a few clearances and gave the ball away at times. 6.5
Paul Taylor: This was a strong performance from Taylor. His pace and direct dribbling worries defenders. Despite this his final ball needs to improve. 7.0
Lee Frecklington:  Good energetic performance in the midfield. After an indifferent start to the season he looks back to his best. 7.2
Paul Green: Forming a very good partnership with Lee Frecklington.  Very good again. 7.0
Ben PringlePut in some more sublime crosses. One lead to the second goal for Clarke-Harris. His shot also took a deflection for the third Rotherham goal. Brilliant from Pringle. 8.0
Jonson Clarke-Harris: Very well taken goal. He was quite in the first half but came to life in the second. Another promising performance. 7.2
Alex Revell: As always gave 100% and have Dan Burn a tough time. He’s been awarded with the first goal making him joint top scorer for the Millers. 7.0

Substitutions

Matt Derbyshire: Missed a chance you’d think he was nailed on to score. One thing good about Derbyshire is his work rate, but he needs goals. 6.5
Richard Smallwood: Didn’t really get enough time to make any real impact. N/A

Fulham

Marcus Bettinelli : Like Colin I think he also had a decent game. He was unlucky with the goals he conceded and actually made some good saves for his team. 7.0
Elsad ZveroticAllowed Pringle to get far too many crosses in from the left. Wasn’t great. 6.5
Nikolay Bodurov: The own goal was unlucky, even so I wasn’t too impressed with him, lost out in the air a lot and was overall very shaky. 6.5
Dan Burn: Rescued a point for Fulham with a good header in the final minute. He won a lot in the air and was solid throughout. 7.2
Kostas StafylidisHad a decent game for Fulham and fulfilled both his duties as a full back well.  6.6
Thomas EisfeldLooked a constant danger throughout. Good display from the youngster. 6.8
Emerson HyndmanGood all round midfield performance. Never stopped running. 6.8
Lasse Vigen Christensen: Thought him and Hyndman complemented each other well. Both weren’t afraid to put a tackle in. 6.8
George Williams: Looked lively throughout and was a constant threat. Won his team a penalty, I wont get into whether he did it fairly or not though. 7.2
Cauley Woodrow: Fantastically well taken goal and was a danger throughout. Could have a bright future ahead of him. 7.2
Ross McCormackWell taken penalty and looked a constant threat throughout the game. 7.2

Substitutions

Moussa Dembele: Looked very dangerous when he came on and caused a few moments of panic for the Rotherham defence. 7.0
Scott Parker: Put in a solid display when he came on. Everything you would expect from Scott Parker. 6.7
Matt Smith: Put himself about when he came on. Looked a threat in the opposition box. 6.7

Man of the Match

Ben Pringle: His crossing was a joy to watch at times and in my opinion he’s right up their with the best in the league for crossing ability. He had a hand in two goals for his side to round off an impressive performance.  8.0
