Championship Weekend Preview

Bolton Wanderers v AFC Bournemouth

The Bolton fans got what they were demanding on Friday morning as Dougie Freedman left the club by mutual consent. They face off against a Bournemouth side who are struggling to put wins together.

After a slow start to the season with disappointing performance after disappointing performance Freedman’s departure seemed to become a case of when not if. It never seemed to click for him, but now it is time for a new man to take the reins, with several big names out of work there will be plenty of interest in the job. For the time being Bolton have the simple matter of a game of football and after Blackpool’s win on Friday evening they need a win to get off the foot of the table. It does not look good for Bolton however. They have won just once so far this season and have lost each of their last three shipping seven goals in the process and scoring none. The Trotters have drawn a blank in six of their ten Championship games so far this season.

AFC Bournemouth v Wigan Athletic - Sky Bet Football League ChampionshipThe last week has summed up the Bournemouth season to date. Last weekend it was not their free flowing best but they managed to get the goals to see off a poor Wigan side 2-0. Meanwhile, in midweek after resolutely defending for over sixty minutes keeper Lee Camp was sent off in a moment of madness and Derby are arguably the worst side to go down to ten men against. After away draws at Norwich and Watford previously the Cherries have become a more robust unit away from home showing they can get physical with sides and are not willing to get pushed around. Striker Callum Wilson has not scored in five games and will be keen to end this dry spell against Bolton who will have their hands full with the former Coventry man’s pace and power. Wilson is this game’s key man.

Score prediction: 2-0 Bournemouth win
