Championship Weekend Preview

Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

A tasty Yorkshire derby to start our preview. Wednesday hit Leeds for six last season and United will want to get some revenge live in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Lewis CookA far from fairytale start at the helm for new Leeds boss Darko Milanic with a poor performance away at Brentford last weekend and a draw at home to Reading in midweek, in which they spent most of the game on the back foot. United’s home record is impressive in the fact that in their five home league games this season they have kept four clean sheets, with the only game they didn’t resulting in a loss. Young midfielder Lewis Cook has been a star in the midfield this season. At just seventeen what he lacks in physical stature he makes up for in technical ability and skill. Cook has already featured in eight league games this season and it this game’s key man.

Since the seven goal smashing at the Etihad in the League Cup two weeks ago, Wednesday have appeared to lack the confidence and class that featured so prominently in their great start to the season. A 2-1 defeat at manager-less Cardiff was followed up by a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich. The defeat last weekend was Wednesday’s first on the road this season in the Championship, but they have won three times already away from home. Manager Stuart Gray has spoke about going back to basics with defensive solidity and the Owls know how to do this. They have had five clean sheets this season.

Score prediction: 1-1 draw
